Android Privacy Policy
Mote for Android is designed to keep your app-guarding data on your device.
Last updated 2026-06-20
This policy covers the Mote Android app and this website, mote.applover.top. If anything here seems out of sync with the app, email hello@mote.applover.top.
1. No account, no ads, no tracking
Mote for Android does not require an account. The app does not include third-party advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, or cross-app tracking. I do not sell your data.
2. App-guarding data stays in Android app-private storage
Mote stores the settings it needs to run the app you asked it to run: selected guarded apps and categories, guard rules, daily pass counters, strict-mode state, reward-menu choices, language preference, onboarding completion, and the last safe screen to restore after restart.
Buddy Lock passcodes are not stored as plain text. Mote stores passcode salt, passcode hash, failure count, and last failed attempt time using Android Keystore-backed encryption.
Schedule boundary and exact-alarm recovery metadata are stored locally so Mote can explain and recover scheduled guard behavior. Local app data is cleared when you uninstall Mote, subject to the normal Android backup and restore settings on your device.
3. Usage Access
If you grant Usage Access, Mote uses it for daily-minute budgets, recovery checks, and fallback foreground-app reconciliation. Mote does not send your app usage list, guarded app list, or usage history to a Mote server.
4. Accessibility
If you enable the Mote Accessibility service, Mote uses it only to detect when a selected guarded app becomes active so it can show the guard screen you configured. Mote does not read messages, inspect private content, type for you, or perform gestures.
5. Notifications, foreground service, and boot recovery
Mote may use notifications and a foreground service to keep user-enabled guarding visible and reliable. It may use boot recovery to restore local guard state after your device restarts. These features support the app's core guarding behavior and do not create an account or a developer-side profile.
6. Purchases
Subscriptions and other purchases are handled by Google Play. Google Play may process purchase records, order identifiers, and subscription status to complete purchases, restore access, manage billing, and prevent fraud. Mote checks whether a Premium entitlement is active and stores the resulting entitlement state locally so Premium gates work inside the app. I do not receive or store your payment card details. Billing, cancellation, refunds, and subscription management run through your Google Play account.
7. Network use
Mote for Android does not use a Mote account server. When Google Play Billing is enabled, Google Play services may use network access for purchase sheets, entitlement checks, and purchase restoration. This is handled through Google Play.
8. This website
This website is static. The current site configuration does not enable analytics scripts, tracking cookies, Google Analytics, or ad pixels. If you email me, I use your email only to reply to you.
9. Children
Mote is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. This website is likewise not directed at children.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, I will update the date above. The core promise stays simple: Mote should not turn your app-guarding data into someone else's profile.
11. Contact
Questions about privacy go to hello@mote.applover.top.
This Android policy is separate from the iOS privacy page because the two platforms use different system permissions and billing providers.
